The Plumbing Section of Building Services (located on the 1st floor of the Civic Centre with Building Services) offers inspection services, plumbing approvals and advice for all sanitary plumbing and drainage installations in the area under the control of the Bundaberg Regional Council.

Pre-approval advice is also available for sanitary plumbing and drainage matters is available either on-site or in-office from qualified Council staff.

Applications are lodged with the cashier located on ground floor and the application is delivered to Building Services for processing and assessment for approval. Development Application Forms can now be downloaded from the web. You can find the forms by clicking the following link:

All sanitary plumbing and drainage work that is regulated by the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 must be carried out by a person who holds a licence or interim licence that entitles the person to perform the work.

It is the licence holder's responsibility to ensure that the plumbing and drainage work is inspected before the work is covered up.

Unregulated work means work that is only

• Installing or maintaining an irrigation or lawn watering system downstream from an isolating valve, tap or backflow prevention device provided for the irrigation system
• Maintaining an above or below ground irrigation system for the disposal of effluent from an on-site sewerage facility
• Replacing a tap washer
• Replacing a shower head
• Replacing inlet and outlet valve washers in a toilet cistern
• Cleaning or maintaining ground level grates to a trap on sanitary drains
• Replacing caps to ground level inspection openings on sanitary drains is the only work permitted by the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 to be carried out while not holding an appropriate licence.
