Council has approved:
  • an industrial warehouse development on land in east Bundaberg bounded by Petersen Street, Scotland Street and School Lane.
  • a development proposal for residential multi units, an apartment building and motel at the corner of Quay & Targo Streets.
  • 8 residential units at 54 Avoca Street, Millbank.
  • a commercial development at the corner of Dr Mays Road and Takalvan Street.
  • a light industrial and commercial showroom at 1 Princess Street.
  • the conversion of Krystals Night Club to a bottle shop.

Local Government Reform
The process of Local Government Reform is one that has challenged Bundaberg City Council for many years, and more particularly over the past four years, due to the above average population and development growth in the region.

Bundaberg, as a key regional city, provides a diverse range of infrastructure and services to our residents and those from surrounding shires.  Financial pressures created by the provision of same, has continued to escalate to the extent that the revenue, especially in Council’s General Fund, is struggling to meet these costs.

  • The area of Branyan Street between Quay and Bourbong Street is to be marked out for angle bays with a section of 2 hour regulated parking being signed in front of Highland Ferguson Lawyers Premises.
  • Work will be carried out to the disabled parking bay at Bundaberg West Special Education Unit in George Street to ensure compliance with current standards.Council has introduced a fee for the restoration of a food licence effective from the 1st July 2007.  This is an additional fee for those food premises failing to pay the appropriate licence fee for the current year of operation of their... Roadworks and Drainage
Work is currently being undertaken on the bicycle path across Kendall Flat which will eventually form part of Council’s Cycle Network.

Council has approved:
  • shops on the corner of Johanna Boulevard and Phoebe Crescent.
  • a number of multi unit developments at 6 Mulgrave Street, 4 High Street, 31 Payne Street, 62 McConville Street and 58 Tarakan Street.
  • modifications to the proposed new Across the Waves Club at Fitzgerald and Thabeban Streets.

Hinkler Hall of Aviation
Construction of the Hinkler Hall of Aviation is expected to commence in early July 2007.  The project, valued in excess of $7 million, provides Bundaberg with an iconic tourist attraction that will strengthen the City’s position as a tourist destination in Queensland. 

Located adjacent Hinkler House in the Botanic Gardens, the new attraction will be housed in a striking architecturally designed building reflecting aviation themes that characterised the life of Bert Hinkler.  Inside the latest technological innovations will be blended with the historical memorabilia to portray Hinkler’s remarkable story.

New Rates Payment Options
Commencing with the current Rates Notice, the Bundaberg City Council has a new payment method available.  Ratepayers now have the option of paying their Rates Notice on-line at our secure site.   You can pay your rates notice over the Internet by visiting the Bundaberg City Council Website and clicking on the "Online Payments" icon.
Payments can be made using Visa or MasterCard credit cards.
