For an unregistered dog :
First release$78.00 + cost of registration
Second release$176.00 + cost of registration

Sustenance fee:
$10.00 per day after two days

Release times:
Weekdays 10:00am to 10:30am at the animal pound.

If your dog is lost, it may have been impounded by the Council. Dogs which have been impounded will appear on this list after processing. Processing times may vary, so you may wish to check back several times.

Impounded dogs are held for two working days. You can check to see if your dog has been impounded by single clicking on the link below.

If your lost dog IS on the list
Claiming your Dog

You can claim your dog by contacting the Health and Environmental Services Department of Bundaberg Regional Council on 4153 9280 during business hours and quote the reference number shown on the dog details screen. For after hours enquiries, please phone Council's Animal Control Officer on 0408 198 460. Please note that only the legal owner of the dog can release a dog from the Pound.

Payment of the release (and registration) fee is to be received in full prior to the release of the dog. Payment can be made at the Council Administration Office between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. weekdays.

Once payment has been made, you can collect your dog from the Pound, upon presentation of your receipt, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. weekdays. The Pound is located at the end of University Drive, Branyan.


If your lost dog IS NOT on the list
Lost and Found Dogs Register

Council maintains a lost and found dog Register. If your dog is missing, and is not in the Pound, you can leave your details with us by completing and submitting the information in our lost/found dogs form.

It is also strongly recommended that you also contact the RSPCA on 07 4155 1736 to see if you dog has been delivered to them. It is also suggested that you contact former Burnett Shire Council on 07 4150 5400 to ensure that your dog has not travelled out of the City's boundaries.


Have you found a dog?
There are three options available to you. They are:
  1. You can call Council’s Animal Control Officer on 0408 198 460 and arrange for the dog to be collected.
  2. If the dog is registered, you can call the Health and Environmental Services Department during business hours on 07 4153 9280 so that the owner of the dog may be contacted. Staff can also search the lost dog register to see if the dog has been reported missing.
  3. If the dog is not registered, has not been reported missing, and you wish to look after the dog until the owner is found, you can leave your details with us by completing and submitting the information in our lost/found dogs form
