The City Council operates the Centre from 9.00am to 3.00pm, Mondays through Saturdays. The Centre provides an enjoyable social program for its members who are frail aged or younger people with a disability. The program is designed to maintain, develop and support the capacity for independent living and social interaction. Carers also benefit by receiving much needed respite from their caring role. The Centre can arrange transport, if required, and offers its member's services including hairdressing and referral to podiatry and other allied health services.

To ensure that the Gracie Dixon Respite Care Centre is a leader in the provision of centre based day respite we will:

• Provide a service where every person is uniquely valued and treated with dignity and respect.
• Expand and enhance our programs so as to innovatively meet consumer needs in maintaining activities of daily living, social interaction and personal interests.
• Improve the structure of our volunteer and community worker programs, so that participants perform tasks under a system of clear work instruction with access to training, and efficient and effective staff supervision and direction.
• Promote involvement from consumers, carers, staff, volunteers and other community stakeholders.
• Recognise that whilst we are here primarily for our consumers, we also play a role in supporting family and friends and their needs where possible are taken into account.

Who Needs Us
For our members attending the centre our programs are designed to develop, maintain or support each individuals capacity for independent living and provide them the opportunity for social interaction.

Cost
The daily fee to attend the centre is $12.00 which includes meals. Members are not excluded from attending if they are financially disadvantaged. Payment of fees is a confidential arrangement between the client and the coordinator.

Hours of Operation
The Gracie Dixon Centre operates from 9.00am to 3.00pm from Monday through Saturday.
An answering machine is in operation outside of working hours and all calls will be returned.

The Coordinator will arrange an appointment to assess your needs. If the Gracie Dixon centre is unable to assist you, the Coordinator will let you know of other suitable services and can arrange for a referral, which will meet your needs.

The Gracie Dixon Respite Care Centre is auspiced by the Bundaberg Regional Council and funded by the Home & Community Care Programs (HACC).

The HACC Program is a shared program between the Commonwealth and the State & Territory Governments, which provide financial assistance for services who support people living at home who are at risk of untimely entry to residential care.
