Manager
Andrew Gill
Andrew comes from a background in education, where he specialised in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) for the private sector in Sydney as well as Japan. He also worked in private and state secondary schools as an English/ History/ Drama/ Film studies teacher before migrating towards his true love of museums and galleries.
After completing post graduate work in Museum studies at Sydney University, he took on the role of Regional Services Officer (later renamed Museum Development Officer) for the Museums and Galleries Foundation of NSW. This position gave him the chance to tour the Milkshakes, Sundaes and Cafe Culture exhibition and to work closely with many of the galleries and museums in NSW in an advisory capacity. He was Exhibitions officer at the Bundaberg Arts Centre for two years before becoming Manager in 2007.
Administrative Officer
Joan Callander
Joan has always worked in the administrative and finance sectors of local government in various countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa, New Zealand & now Australia.
Joan joined the Bundaberg Arts Centre in January 2002 as Administrative Officer and has loved every minute of her time with the Arts Centre. She has recently been promoted to include Volunteer Coordinator in her position description.
As well as coordinating and managing the Volunteer Program, Joan's duties mainly include the day to day operations of the Arts Centre Reception Desk which involves much customer service, dealing with correspondence, banking records, accounts and the Centre Shop. She also assists with the exhibitions and public programs which add to the wonderful variety in her day.
Public Programs Officer
Roana O'Neill
Roana is the Public Programs Officer and is involved in the development and delivery of public programs and the marketing of the Arts Centre. This includes designing publicity materials, updating the website, assisting with the Arts Bundaberg magazine, organising artist talks, art workshops and running tours. Roana also runs school and community activities linked to the changing exhibitions and runs the Arts Centre's school holiday programs.
Roana has lived and worked in Victoria and Darwin where she was involved in the development and delivery of interpretive programs for schools and community groups for park agencies. She moved to Bundaberg in 2002 and completed her Graduate Diploma of Museum Studies at Deakin University in 2004 in her first year at the Arts Centre and was awarded the Roslyn Lawry Award for Excellence in Museum Studies.
Roana has a love of nature and enjoys working with children. In particular she enjoys the variety that her job offers through the changing exhibitions, different artists and variety of programs to deliver.
Exhibition Officer
Bianca Acimovic
Bianca Acimovic is trained as a visual artist, graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Fine Arts from the University of Southern Queensland in 2005. While undertaking her degree Bianca focused on gallery studies following this through with industry experience with the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery. In 2005 she took up an internship with the Queensland Public Art Agency. Following the completion of her degree Bianca moved to Brisbane to undertake a Masters in Museum Studies with the University of Queensland. While in Brisbane Bianca was employed by the Queensland Art Gallery. In 2007 she relocated to Bundaberg to take up the role of Exhibition Officer at the Bundaberg Arts Centre
Arts Trainee
Crystal Wieland
For the past 3 years Crystal has been working in the sales and promotions industry. In 2007 she took up the position of Arts Trainee with the Bundaberg City Council. Within this traineeship Crystal will complete Certificate II in Business. As a result of her traineeship being undertaken in the Arts Centre Crystal will additionally assist in such areas as Public Programs, Marketing, Exhibitions and Collection. Crystal has recently been commended by her Operations Manager for her outstanding performance in her role at the Arts Centre.
